The Pleiades Connection

‘Mum…. Where do we come from?’ is a question I have been asking since first quizzing my mother at the age of four. With neither of my parents coming from a religious background, I was raised without the dogma of religion, so never held any beliefs of our origins. Never believing the Darwin Theory, I embarked on a journey over 30 years ago, to learn the truth of our origins.....

In the eastern sky on a clear night, a small but conspicuous cluster of stars are seen. This group of stars are called the Pleiades.

They are not a constellation by themselves, but are part of the constellation, Taurus the Bull with Sirius and Orion following not far behind. The Pleiades are what astronomers call an open cluster or a galactic cluster, in which stars are grouped randomly but decreasing number outwards from the cluster center. In the case of the Pleiades the outline of the brightest stars is that of a tiny dipper or cup. Classically the Pleiades are said to consist of seven stars, however there are about 200 stars in the core of this cluster.

Drawings and stories of the Pleiades mythology ranges from prehistory times. The star lore has been known since antiquity to cultures from all over the planet commonly associated with festivities, ceremonies, and rights. Many ancient cultures have handed down oral stories, others painted in caves, some carved in stone, even religious texts make reference to what we know of, as ‘The Seven Sisters’ . (also known as Krittika, Kimah, Matariki, Virgins of Spring, Hens and Flock of Doves to name a few).

The widespread similarities in beliefs concerning the Pleiades, both across Australia and among Aboriginal and European cultures, has led to an abundance of popular literature concerning the Seven Sisters … The Pleiades were known as Seven Sisters/brothers by the indigenous people in North America, Siberia and Australia. This common heritage shows they were described more than 40,000 years ago.

Among the large variety of myths concerning the Pleiades are several mechanisms for their ascension into the Skyworld.

Ancient Star Lore of the Indigenous

Australia - It is unsurprising that across Australia the Pleiades – and their heavenly companions of Orion’s Belt, are very much alive as actors in Aboriginal Dreamtime Stories, culture, seasonal ceremonies and calendars that provide evidence of the relationship between the here-and-now and the journeys and adventures of the heroic ancestors.

Approximately Fifty different versions of Pleiades Mythology have been surveyed across Australia. The element most versions share is that a group of young women/girls are fleeing from either a single man or a group of men. In parts of the Kimberley Aboriginal people consider that an “old man,” the planet Venus, chases the youngest of the Pleiades sisters across the night sky.

In the Aboriginal Dreamtime there are several different stories regarding the Pleiades. “Where the Frost comes From” (Lambert & Parker 1993: Wise Women of the Dreamtime (1) we are given the story of the Meamei, or Pleiades, the seven beautiful sisters with long hair and resplendent bodies, sparkling with many icicles adorning them.

A family of young men, the BeraiBerai used to follow the Meamei everywhere, always leaving special gifts of honey, they were skillful in finding beehives. The Meamei were happy to accept the honey but resisted their ongoing advances.

One day the old Ancestor of fire Wurrunnah stole two of the girls. He tried to heat their icicles, however in the process, he extinguished his own fire. After sometime in captivity, the two were taken to the sky. There, they were reunited with their 5 stationed sisters, who also have become stars in the meantime.

The brothers were extremely upset that the sisters had left, they pined away to an early death, they also became stars in the sky (Orions sword and belt), but for the Daens(Aboriginals) it actually is the Berai-Berai brothers.

The Ngatadjara tribe of the Warburton ranges of Western Australia, tell of a dreamtime story about a group of women the ‘Kunkarunkara’ whom were protected from the unwelcomed attentions of the moonman named ‘Kula’… Another version indicates, they were constantly being pursued, and sometimes raped, by ‘Jula’ whom was from constellation of Orion before finally escaping into the sky and becoming the Pleiades.

A legend told by the Wurundjeri people of south-eastern Australia, the Pleiades were represented by the seven Karatgurk sisters. These women were the first to possess the secret of fire and each one carried live coals on the end of her digging stick. Although they refused to share these coals with anybody, they were ultimately tricked into giving up their secret by Crow, who subsequently brought fire to mankind. After this, the Karatgurk sisters were swept into the night sky. Their glowing fire sticks became the bright stars of the Pleiades cluster.

An aboriginal elder whom I met recently ‘Aunty Lilah’ tells me that the Milky Way is where creation began. She describes a ball (planet) exploding and the seven sisters of the Pleiades coming to the Seven corners of the Earth to teach mankind love and peace.

The Aboriginal Elders claim that many ceremonial rites were originally taught to them by ‘blueberry-skinned sky gods’ who were referred to as ‘The Ancient Ones’ (2)

The Americas

There is a life-and-death theme to this group of stars. The origins of humanity are credited to the Pleiades in some cultures, notably those of the Mayan tradition, also that of the Cherokee, the Hopi and some other tribes, suggesting their origins are from the Pleiades.

The Cherokee believe their Ancestors came from the Pleiades, settled in Atlantis and relocated to the American continent when the islands disintergrated.

I came across a speech a few years ago made by raised Cherokee Mike (Ali) Raccoon Eyes Kinney. In this he stated ‘Remember that since Sacred Time, Creation Time, First Man and First Woman Time, Creator made all generations of Cherokee from the past to the present and into the future as a Holy People. Our forefathers were from the stars in effect we are the descendents of star children. Look at our proud Cherokee nation flag… there are 7 stars and one of them is with 7 points. Our original Ancestors in the oral traditions stated we came from the star system that is called Pleiades. In our culture, we lovingly call the seven stars ‘The Boys’.

Traditional Cherokee Story - "The Origin Of The Pleiades And The Pine"

Long ago, when the world was new, there were seven boys who used to spend all their time down by the townhouse playing the gatayû'stï game, rolling a stone wheel along the ground and sliding a curved stick after it to strike it. Their mothers scolded, but it did no good, so one day they collected some gatayû'stï stones and boiled them in the pot with the corn for dinner. When the boys came home hungry their mothers dipped out the stones and said, "Since you like the gatayû'stï better than the cornfield, take the stones now for your dinner."

The boys were very angry, and went down to the townhouse, saying, "As our mothers treat us this way, let us go where we shall never trouble them any more." They began to dance, some say it was the Feather Dance and went round and round the townhouse, praying to the spirits to help them. At last their mothers were afraid something was wrong and went out to look for them. They saw the boys still dancing around the townhouse, and as they watched they noticed that their feet were off the earth, and that with every round they rose higher and higher in the air. They ran to get their children, but it was to late, for they were already above the roof of the townhouse, all but one, whose mother managed to pull him down with the gatayû'stï pole, but he struck the ground with such a force that he sank into it and the earth closed over him.

The other six circled higher and higher until they went up to the sky, Where we see them now as the Pleiades, which the Cherokee still call Ani'tsutsã (The Boys).

The Lakota Tribe of North America had a legend that linked the origin of the Pleiades to Devils Tower. According to the Seris (of northwestern Mexico), these stars are seven women who are giving birth. The constellation is known as Cmaamc, which is apparently an archaic plural of the noun cmaam "woman"

The Hopis called the Pleiadians the 'Chuhukon', meaning those who cling together. They considered themselves direct descendents of the Pleiadians.

Paul Goble, Native American storyteller, tells a Blackfoot legend that he says is told by other tribes as well. In the story, the Pleiades are orphans ("Lost Boys") that were not cared for by the people, so they became stars. Sun Man is angered by the mistreatment of the children and punishes the people with a drought, causing the buffalo to disappear, until the dogs, the only friends of the orphans, intercede on behalf of the people. As the buffalo are not available while the Lost Boys are in the skies, the cosmical setting of the Pleaides was a signal for Blackfoot hunter to travel to their hunting grounds, for buffalo.

The early Monte Alto Culture and others in Guatemala such as Ujuxte and Takalik Abaj, made its early observatories, using the Pleiades and Eta Draconis as reference, they were called the seven sisters, and thought to be their original land. Standing Elk talked recently at the Star Knowledge Conference about meeting another Sioux Medicine Man who confirmed that there are Star Visitors. Sioux legends relate that they came from the Pleiades with others coming from the Sirius and Orion systems. The Lakota Elder told the Sioux spiritual origin legend of two Lakota scouts being out away from the tribe, when a young, beautiful, pale-white luminous woman appeared to them (White Buffalo Calf Woman) She gave them important instructions about their origin, and spiritual teachings and ceremonies to bring back to the people.

The Mayans of Meso-America referred to the Pleiades as ‘The Cranary’ as it was the seedbed of their civilization and the cosmic star mother whom from they received the codes of light.

Published spokesman of the Mayan culture, Don Alejandro Wandering Wolf of Guatemala Santa Fe, New Mexico 1999 states…

“The crystal skulls that are from the Mayan pyramids have been given to a woman to hold and protect. Later they will be returned to the pyramids. Anna Mitchell Hodges is holding them. These crystal skulls were brought from the Pleiades, they speak of reincarnation. The elders know the science of the lives in this. The Mother of Mayan science is Pleiadian. These skulls must go home where they belong. This is the science of the future after 2000. You were called to be here and carry this message. SPREAD THE WORD!!

The Wingmakers are actually the star people. Mayan actually means "my people." They first came to Atlantis. Our first pyramids are there, underwater. In the Bermuda area. Tulan was the name of the city of Atlantis. Their great prophets, (star people), came and gave an oral transmission. It has been passed down for thousands of years. In the beginning there were four of them. The first teachers from the Pleiades taught the astronomy and the beginning of creation, the Great Mysteries. They have the power of the sixth and seventh senses and the third eye. They came to teach us these things. The way of working together, etc. There have been many visitations from the Pleiades, then they return there, then they come back here again and come down to Asia, Tibet, Kaimaya, and in India also.

"Nagamaya" they were called. There are glyphs that speak of these visitations, like the Wingmakers. More will be discovered when it is time. There are some now incarnated in bodies, we do not know who they are and it is a secret until the time comes. This is the return of the ancestors spoken about in the prophecies. They will all arise, not just Mayan, all of us.”

China - In Chinese constellations, the Pleiades were known as Mao, the Hairy Head of the white tiger of the West. The first emperors of China maintained they were not descended from human beings on this planet, but that their ancestors came from the heavens above in metal dragons of fire. Japan The Japanese refer to the Pleiades as Subaru which means "coming together" or cluster in Japanese. They claim they are the offspring of seven gods. They have given their name to the car manufacturer whose logo incorporates six stars to represent the five companies that merged into one. A book written by Takeshi Uchida and titled (roughly translated) Dialects of the Stars and Cultures (1973, Iwasaki Bijutsu Co.) (3) tells us that most people in the West know "Subaru" as it is used by the automobile company; most probably recognize the company's use of the stars in its logo. According to Uchida, the term Subaru may have Buddhist roots; the meaning is generally thought to be "united" or "getting together". The Chinese character (Kanji) for Subaru also has connotations of being "bright"; therefore the "bright" Subaru stars seem to "get together in one place".

As with other historical aspects of Japanese culture, much of the myth of Subaru came to Japan from China. However, through the centuries, lore was adapted to local Japanese prefectures and towns based upon seasonal needs (when to plant, when to go fishing, etc.), local religious customs, and just individual differences in the perception of what the stars look like.

Japanese often saw seven stars instead of six in Subaru. The term Shichifukujin means (literally "seven happy gods") which are often seen at temples and in miniature at souvenir shops throughout Japan. Locals in some prefectures of Japan still call the Pleiades "Shichifukujin". Indonesia The Javanese call the seven stars "Lintang Kartika". This name derived from Sanskrit word ‘Krittika’, Nakshatra in Hindu astrology. The celestial presence of Krittika Nakshatra is marked by a cluster of seven stars (The Pleiades) , the God of fire or 'agni', being its ruling deity. Krittika Nakshatra is known to be the source of energy and power. Hindu In Hindu mythology, the god Murugan(Skanda/Subrahmanya/Kartikeya) was raised by the six sisters known as the Krittikā and thus came to be known as Kārtikeya (literally "Him of the Krittikā

According to the epic Mahabharata, composed in about 500 B.C., the stars of the Big Dipper were the seven sages called Rishis. These seven sages are said to be those who made the Sun rise and shine. They were happily married to seven sisters named Krttika. They originally all lived together in the northern sky.

But one day, the god of fire, Agni, emerged from the flames of an offering performed by the seven Rishis and fell in love with the seven Krttika. Trying to forget his hopeless love for the Krttika, Agni wandered in the forest where he met Svaha. To conquer Agni's love, Svaha disguised herself as six of the seven Krttika. Svaha could mimic only six of the Krttika because the seventh sister Arundhati was too devoted to her husband to be imitated.

After a while, Svaha gave birth to a child that she named Skanda. With his birth, rumors began to spread that six of the Rishis' wives were his mother. Six of the Rishis divorced their wives. Arundhati was the only one that remained with her husband as the star Alcor. The other six Krttika went away to become the Pleiades.

Recent ancient research and translations indicate that Indian tales contain many references to the presence of Gods from the sky and the ships they traveled in. The Samara Sutradhara as well as other writings from past times, include information about vehicles, their operations and accurate portrayals of the earth as it appears from above. According to Dr Michael Cremo (4) (author of Human Devolution and co-author of ‘Forbidden Archeology’ ) ‘The Vedic historical writings also speak of vimanas, or spacecraft, which are used for travel between planets and levels of the cosmos. According to the Vedic model, we are all aliens, all extraterrestrials, in this sense–as conscious beings, we are not originally from this earth. Sometimes great teachers come down to earth to inspire us to go back to the spiritual level of reality which is our real home.’ In striking similarities to the Australian Aboriginals description of their ancient ancestors skin colour, the god Krishna was depicted at length having an alluring blue complexion.

"Krishna was born of a chaste virgin, called Devaki, who, on account of her purity, was selected to become the 'mother of God.' Early references to Krishna, sometimes as Krishna Harita, a teacher of 'Yoga' and metaphysics, and sometimes as Devaki Krishna, a great philosopher, occur in Vedic literature itself, but it is in the Mahabharata that he appears with a fully evolved personality as a great warrior, strategist, diplomat and finally in his Vishwa-rupa, manifesting the cosmos in his form. He was seen as incarnating Vishnu, the supreme Lord of all gods and all beings with a rank and distinction above them all.

There are many parallels between the traditional stories of Krishna and Christ (not to mention the similar names and the virgin mother). The Hindus were well aware the Greek, Egyptian, Hermetic and Gnostic schools were more than likely influenced by Hinduism. Buddhism and Christianity have more in common than their adherents are usually willing to admit.

Africa The Xhosa would watch for the first appearance of the isiLimela in June. It is said that the month of the Digging Stars, Isilimela, symbolized new life in man. The coming-out ceremony of the abakwetha circumcision school, when boys would become men, was determined by the appearance of this stellar grouping, and it is the custom for Xhosa men to count their years of manhood from this date. Gana Bushmen say that the Pleiades are the wives of Canopus and Sirius, and the men's younger brother is Achernar. The Namaqua Khoikhoi spoke of the Pleiades as the "Stars of Spring" and called them the Khunuseti. They were the daughters of Tsui

//Goab, the Dawn or Sky God. A beautiful mythical tale encompasses the remarkably bright stars of this region. One day, the story goes, the Khunuseti told their husband (Aldebaran) to go out and hunt the three zebras (Orion's Belt). Dutifully, the husband went out, but took only one arrow with him. He aimed and shot at the zebras, but missed. His arrow (Orion's Sword) fell beyond them, and still lies there today. Although he wanted to retrieve the arrow, he couldn't: there was a fierce lion (Betelgeuse) nearby who was also watching the zebras. So the poor man sat there, shivering from the cold and suffering from thirst and hunger, unable to return to his wives (who would be angry) or to collect his arrow. (The Ju/Wasi Bushmen have a similar tale.) The Dogons Much has been written about the amazing oral traditions from the Dogon people about their origins from the Sirius system. According to the Dogon, the Nummo/human Ancestors came here from the Pleiades approximately one million years ago. It was at that time that they created humans as they are known today. The Dogon shared their secrets of the highest mysteries to French anthropologists Marcel Griaule and Germaine Dieterlen between 1946 and 1950. Robert Temples book ‘The Sirius Mystery’ was based on their findings. These anthropologists proved that the Dogons complex ceremonies were based on a detailed knowledge of the orbital patterns and physical characteristics of Sirius A, B and Sirus C lasting for thousands of years. It should be noted that Sirius B was only discovered through telescopes in the nineteenth century, with the first photograph taken in 1970. Interestingly, the Dogons knew of Sirius B prior to our modern technology? They tell us this is the most important star called ‘Po – the egg of the world’. They say it gave birth to all creation in the universe. Po is made up of earth, fire, air and water according to the Dogon people. Shannon Dorey has been researching the Dogon religion for thirteen years. In this time she has shared some amazing information and insight. This is part of an article I found quite interesting…

I read recently in a minor footnote that the red star emme ya tolo had exploded. I was blown away to say the least. (no pun intended) There has been much ink devoted to this star, which was identified by Griaule and Dieterlen in The Pale Fox, as existing in the Sirius star system. Robert Temple wrote that this star was a red dwarf in his book The Sirius Mystery, and the star was thought to have been discovered in 1995 by two French astronomers, who called it Sirius C. Since we now know that the star exploded, it means that emme ya tolo was a red giant and not a red dwarf star, as was earlier believed. The Nummo’s planet or world associated with the star was likely consumed by the red giant star as it expanded into space.

For me this little footnote in The Pale Fox spoke volumes as the symbols I had already established from my earlier research started to make complete sense in the context of the solar system. Through this one little footnote, I was able to learn that this red giant had been a threat to life in our solar system. Life had existed on Mars and Venus at the time, and it indicates that a scientist on Venus, a civilization that was far more advanced that what we are today, may have tried to kick start a new sun and or planet. The red giant star was on its way to consuming both planets and this scientist may have tried to create a new place where the inhabitants of those two planets could live. This is not unlike what we would probably do if our sun became a red giant and tried to destroy life on Earth. At any rate, the experiment was a complete disaster and life on Mars was decimated in the process.

The white dwarf star po tolo, which was once a companion to our Sun, was hurled into its current location along with the star known today as Sirius A. The Earth was either created from the explosion or had existed before hand but most life was destroyed on Earth. The moon was also formed at this time.

It was the Nummo who came to Earth to try and regenerate life here with the DNA they brought from Venus, Orion's Belt, the Pleiades and Orion's Sword.

According to the Dogon, the Nummo and humans saw the red giant explode during the first year of the life of humans on Earth. The Dogon described its brilliance, which was particularly intense at the time as becoming progressively dimmer, to fade away completely after the first performance of the fourth Sigui ceremony, which would have been 240 years after they first saw the explosion of the star in the sky.

According to NASA, our Sun is unusual in that it is alone as most stars occur in multiple or binary systems. According to the Dogon, the vibrations emanating from our Sun (female) and the white dwarf star, po tolo (male) are associated with the vibrations found in all life and identified with our dual souls. In the Dogon language, the word ‘soul’ was a repetition of a single word, kinndou-kinndou, which was translated as ‘soul-soul’. When this star was flung away from our Sun, we lost on part of our soul vibrations. Dogon mythology tells us that the first humans were hermaphrodites and the human soul was dual. It is because the star was lost to the Earth that humans were eventually turned into single sexed beings losing their androgyny and immortality in the process. When the Nummo regenerated the Earth, they tried to incorporate those lost vibrations into the plant and other life they created on the Earth. This is why it is so important for us to protect green space on the Earth. It holds the key to our spiritual evolution. According to the Dogon, Earth is an anomaly in the universe.

Egypt Our modern reference books about early Egyptian history scrupulously avoid mention of the impressive amount of ancient evidence attesting to the celestial (starborn?) rulers of predynastic Egypt. The paranormal portion of academia’s primary reference material is some what neglected and written off as myth. Highly regarded historian, Herodotus (c.305-285BC) writings included descriptions of advanced beings living on Earth providing knowledge and guidance to the local inhabitants. Herodotus wrote that his knowledge came from the initiated high priests in Memphis and confirmed by other high priests of Heliopolis and Thebes.

This knowledge included information regarding sky-gods descending to Earth in from 17,500BC through to 11850BC, after which no god adorned a mortal form. Isis was the most venerated Egyptian goddess – the creatress from whom all arose. A quote by J.R. Skinner in the Celestial Ship of the North written by E.Valentia Straiton ‘Isis, Issa, is the Virgin mother of the gods. Neith, Isis, Hathor, Venus and others are all one and the same. Because Isis' name means, literally, "throne" in the Ancient Egyptian language, she is usually represented with a throne as a depiction of her power. She is often nursing her son Horus, which is similar to the classic Christian portait of the Madonna and Child.. After Isis was assimilated with Hathor, she was sometimes depicted with the twin horns of a cow (like Taurus) on her head, with a solar disc between them. The Nebula around the western side of the Pleiades could well be the reason she was often portrayed as veiled and may also relate to her Dance of the Seven Veils? In the Templer Revelation, it is suggested that Mary Magdalene and Jesus were Initiates of the Cult of Isis. A cult that spread far beyond Egypt's boundaries. The Romans were aware of the cult's existence, but it was frowned upon by many of the ruling class. The emporer Augustus (Octavian) decreed that worship of Isis was forbidden as part of his attempt to return Rome to Roman gods. For some Roman worshippers, Isis was absorbed into the cult of Cybele, which held bloody rites in honor of their mother goddess. The cult of Isis moved as far afield as ancient Greece, and was known as a mystery tradition among the Hellenes until it was banned by Christianity around the sixth century. The ancient Egyptians singled out the Pleiades as a female goddess, most often recognized as Neith, the ‘divine mother’ or Hathor/Isis, who was in the form of a cow. Ancient Egyptian records translate the Pleiades as "Krittikas", "female judges of mankind" - they primarily equated them as the Seven Hathors, who carried the seeds of life.

In her book Virgin Mother Goddesses of Antiquity Dr. Marguerite Rigoglioso remarks:

“Neith was unequivocally portrayed as an autogenetic/ parthenogenetic creatrix in the inscriptions of the middle and late periods in Egypt, a depiction that may have characterized the goddess in her earliest cult as well. She specifically was both creator and "virgin," a being whose peplos, or dress, no one had lifted. As one of the oldest deities of Egypt, who most likely was worshipped throughout ancient Libya, she thus represents one of the earliest appearances of the archetype of the Virgin Mother goddess in the ancient Mediterranean world.”

"The goddesses have stories to tell. One such story—far too long ignored—is that, in their original, unadulterated form, they were parthenogenetic. The word parthenogenesis comes from the Greek parthenos, 'virgin' more or less, and gignesthai, 'to be born.' It means, essentially, to be born of a virgin—that is, without the participation of a male. For a goddess to be 'parthenogenetic' thus means that she stands as a primordial creatrix, who requires no male partner to produce the cosmos, earth, life, matter and even other gods out of her own essence. Plentiful evidence shows that in their earliest cults, before they were subsumed under patriarchal pantheons as the wives, sisters and daughters of male gods, various female deities of the ancient Mediterranean world were indeed considered self-generating, virgin creatrixes."

The virgin status of the Egyptian Madonna Isis is challenged because, according to one popular legend, she fecundated herself using Osiris's severed phallus. However, in another tradition Isis was miraculously impregnated "by a flash of lightning or by the rays of the moon." In The Golden Bough, Frazer tells another version in which Isis conceived Horus "while she fluttered in the form of a hawk over the corpse of her dead husband." In this story, Horus is born before Osiris is severed into pieces; hence, Isis does not use the dead god's phallus to impregnate herself.

Isis seems to have been originally a virgin (or, perhaps, sexless) goddess, and in the later period of Egyptian religion she was again considered a virgin goddess. Apparently, it is this period that the birthday of Horus was annually celebrated, around December 25th, in the temples. As both Macrobius and the Christian writer [of the "Paschal Chronicle"] say, a figure of Horus as a baby was laid in a manger, in a scenic reconstruction of a stable, and a statue of Isis was placed beside it. Horus was, in a sense, the Savior of mankind. He was their avenger against the powers of darkness; he was the light of the world. His birth-festival was a real Christmas before Christ.
